Utah Hemophilia Foundation

Intermountain Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center (IHTC) News:

Picture
_The Intermountain Hemophilia and Thrombosis Clinic (IHTC) is excited to welcome the new year, and wants to wish everyone all the best for 2012. In reviewing the UHF calendar, it looks like many exciting and interesting events are scheduled. We are very proud to be coordinating with the UHF in again presenting the Parents Empowering Parents (PEP) Program in Utah. The dates are March 23-25, 2012, and our event will take place at the Marriott University Park Hotel, located at the University Research Park. This is a great opportunity for parents to commit to a weekend together with other parents to focus on learning more about parenting children with bleeding disorders, as well as build skills in child development, discipline, behavior management, self esteem, communication, and conflict resolution. The IHTC has received a grant to cover the costs of the weekend, and space is limited, so please contact Susan Earl, MSW at 801-662-4557 ASAP if you are interested in receiving a registration form.

PEP is a national program developed by social workers, nurses, and parents. For our Utah program, Lana Henrie will be our parent presenter, Penni Haven will be our nurse presenter, and Susan Earl will be our social worker presenter. Not only is PEP an educational program, it is also a chance to work more closely with our clinic staff and develop relationships and mentoring opportunities with other parents.

The IHTC would also like to remind you that our Medical Home Neighbor Parent Partner is administering a private group on Facebook—“Utah Hemophilia Family Neighborhood”—which is another great way to share information and meet other families. We are very pleased with the good work of our Parent Partners and are very excited to welcome our new Medical Home Neighbor Coordinator, Ann Nielsen, MSW, LCSW. Ann will be working with us coordinating Medical Home needs and patient services through the remaining time of our grant.
