Look Who's Turning 50!

It’s the Utah Hemophilia Foundation! Our organization, that started in 1959 by a few moms with a mission, has grown into one of the longest operating foundations within the state of Utah. That is worth celebrating (and we are going to!). Please join us in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Utah Hemophilia Foundation. Pack Up for the Teen Retreat

UHF Teens, clear your work schedules and save the date for the Teen Retreat—this is going to be an event you won’t want to miss! This year’s retreat will be on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2 at the Homestead Resort in Midway, Utah. Check-in will be on Friday, May 1st from 4:00-5:30 p.m. The event will end on Saturday, May 2nd at 3:00 p.m. The registration deadline is Friday, April 10th! (read more...)


Von Willebrand Disease Education Meeting 

Individuals and families dealing with the challenge of von Willebrand disease (vWD) are invited to join BioRx and Grifols for a day of fun and learning at This is the Place Heritage Park. The date of this event is Saturday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to p.m. and will include the following presentations:  “Everything You Wanted to Know About vWD But Were Afraid to Ask,” a question and answer panel with HTC professionals, and “Mind, Body & Spirit: Tools for Increasing Energy, Relieving Stress and Creating Peace,” facilitated by Saara Ullery of Body Knowledge. Voices: The Power of Our Stories

About two years ago I felt impressed to write my story of living with von Willebrand disease in the form of a song. By the time it was completed, I had added a PowerPoint presentation to go along with it. “Why am I putting myself through this?” was a question I asked myself several times as I worked on the difficult project. It wasn’t until I started sharing my song with others that I finally understood the answer to my question. (read more...)


Southern Utah Outreach

The Utah Hemophilia Foundation (UHF) and Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) will host an education dinner for adults (ages 18 and older) dealing with the challenges of bleeding disorders. Whether you have a bleeding disorder or care for someone who does—come to connect with other adults dealing with the same challenges. Enjoy a presentation by the HTC staff. Plan to join us on Friday, May 15th for dinner and a presentation by the staff of the HTC. This event will be held in the Springdale area of Southern Utah. (read more...)


2009 Scholarship Applications

UHF Scholarship applications are now available Online on our Scholarships page). Applicants must be enrolled in or attending a college, university, or trade school by fall 2009. Scholarships are open to those with bleeding disorders, children of affected parents, and siblings. Deadline for applications is May 15th. Recruiting Secret Agents for Spy Camp: Code Name Camp Valor

Calling all Secret Agents, it is time to register for Camp Valor! With dreams of sun-filled August days, we look forward to the adventures in store for us at camp. This year we will be spies and will embark on various “secret missions.” We will prove that there is no such thing as a “Mission Impossible”! Returning this year are some old favorites, like swimming and arts & crafts, but we are definitely going to mix it up with some new adventures! But SHHHHH, it’s Spy Camp, so I have to keep it SECRET! Junior National Championship (JNC)

We are pleased to announce that Salt Lake City will again host CSL Behring’s Junior National Championship on Saturday, August 15. This fun day includes friendly competition in both baseball and golf. The entire family can play baseball and kids ages 7-18 are eligible for prizes. The golf tournament will be for kids ages 7-18. This day-long event will include activities for the entire family. Kids with bleeding disorders will be eligible to win great prizes. Mark your calendars and don’t miss out. Watch for more information coming soon!


\$70,000 Raised at the Chili Open!

Our thanks to our wonderful sponsors who, once again, made this year’s Chili Open a success. Through the generosity of our sponsors, those that sold raffle tickets and provided auction items, the UHF was able to raise more than \$70,000 for programs and services. UHF 5k BloodRun & 1 Mile Walk

Everyone put on your running shoes and mark your calendars. We are excited to announce the third annual Utah Hemophilia Foundation 5k Blood Run & 1 Mile Walk on June 6, 2009! This exciting event is a great way to reach a variety of individuals and educate them about bleeding disorders while at the same time encouraging wellness and fitness. (read more...)


Karing for Kids

Parents and children from the community gathered at Thanksgiving Point on February 28th for a one-of-a-kind educational event, Karing for Kids, sponsored by Accredo / Hemophilia Health Services. The turnout was excellent and everyone truly enjoyed themselves. The children got to visit the dinosaur museum while the parents learned important skills unique to raising young kids with bleeding disorders. When the children returned, they got to learn the ins and outs of bleeding disorders through songs, rotations at stations with educational games and activities, and even making slime to learn how blood clots! Gearing Up for the Next Closing-the-Loop Charity Bike Ride

We are gearing up for the third annual Closing-the-Loop Charity Bike Ride set for September 25-26, 2009 in Moab, Utah. The bike ride committee is working hard to make this already fabulous event even more wonderful. New to this year’s race will be a Friday ride mountain biking the Poison Spider trail and a Saturday half-loop 30-mile road ride (along with the original 65-mile loop and the same start time). There will, of course be the full traditional 65-mile road bike ride around the La Sal Loop Road surrounded by the beautiful red rocks scenery. Rider Support, food and drinks will be provided. Benefits of Comprehensive Care—A Message from the Hemophilia Treatment Center

The month of March has been designated as Hemophilia Awareness Month and April 17, 2009 has been set aside as World Hemophilia Day. In conjunction with this, the Mountain States Hemophilia Treatment Center would like to help raise awareness of the importance of comprehensive care.
